Past Films

Sierra/Tango Productions under its current and former name (Ikana Media) has produced and developed over 20 films for television. We have embraced a wide range of stories including: the psychological and physical struggles of a group of soldiers returning from Iraq; what it means to be 13 in America; an examination of warfare; tracing the history of a Virginia community at the heart of Brown v. Board of Education.

Coming Home, our film on the struggles of physically and mentally challenged Iraq War veterans, was a winner of the Chris Award, the Cine Masters Series Award, the Cine Special Jury Award, and second place for broadcast Documentary in the 2006 National Headliner Awards. At the end of production, the group of soldiers we followed, “The Wounded Warriors,” were instrumental in passing a bill in Congress that provides medical insurance for severely injured soldiers after they are discharged from the military.

Save Our History: Voices of Civil Rights, the second documentary to come out of a joint project with AARP, centered around collecting the voices of ordinary Americans who lived during the civil rights movement. The first film, MSNBC: The Battle For America’s Schools, on the Brown v. Board case, was a finalist for a NYC Deadline Award. HISTORY CHANNEL’S Save Our History: Voices of Civil Rights won the 2005 George Foster Peabody Award and an Emmy for research. (http://www.voicesofcivilrights.org/)
